Have you ever felt like you have been stuck in a season of life and have no clue why or what you are supposed to do? You almost feel like you’ll be there forever. It can be a very dangerous and hard place to be if you don’t approach it in a healthy way. I know for me, I have been in these before and luckily, I have some incredible leaders and mentors in my life to help me navigate through them.
Every time I think of a season of life that I am in, I often reflect on Galatians 6:9. It says “Let us not become weary of doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we don’t give up.” I know the feeling of being stuck in a season and asking God why. Being so frustrated with why God was taking me through this season because I just knew that I was supposed to be elsewhere. I just knew that where I was or what I was doing was not right. Did you notice one thing common in that sentence? That’s right… I. It was all about me and not about God.
Once I was taught these 4 principles and was able to fully embrace where God had me, it completely changed everything. It’s not easy but I believe that it will encourage and challenge you as a leader
1.Ask yourself, “What is God teaching me?” not “Why am I here?”
This is crucial to your mindset. How many times have you asked yourself why? You spend so much time thinking through this question that you completely lose what God is trying to teach you. God’s plan for your life is perfect and He has you right where He wants you. He is teaching you something, we just have to be willing to receive it.
2. Be faithful where you are now and He will lead you to what’s next
A simple definition of faithfulness is show up everyday on time with a good attitude and get something done. Where God has you right now is the absolute best place to be. Stop trying to force doors open that you know don’t need to be opened. Remember Galatians 6:9, you will reap the harvest in the right time. In His timing, He will take you to what is next.
3. Honor your leadership and God will honor your leadership
John Maxwell says it best when he says, “Everything rises and falls on leadership.” Your leadership matters. It matters to you and to the people that you lead. It’s crucial to honor the leadership in your life that God has ordained to be there. Trust and know that they are there to guide you and help you through your season.
4. Stay humble, hungry, helpful, honoring and holy
These traits are essential to your health and growth as a leader. If you can take these in and allow them to lead you, you’ll begin to see the fruit that God wants to produce. Remember, His timing is perfect. The reason He calls it fruit is because it takes time to grow.
If you can apply these 4 principals in your life and leadership, I know and believe you’ll be able thrive in your current season of life. Now, go and crush it. Be the person and leader that God has created you to be.
