Many people think in terms of fulfilling the Great Commission one person at a time. That is, I share the gospel with someone, who grows and shares the gospel with someone else, and so on. I take a different approach.
I remember once telling a group, “I can hardly wait until I win a person to Christ, disciple him, and then see him win someone else to Christ. I’d like to be a spiritual grandparent.” I thought this was a noble goal. One of the group members, however, didn’t. He rebuffed me: “If you could do that, you wouldn’t need the body.” In hindsight, I think he was right.
This plan is not about reaching one, who reaches one, who reaches one. This is about working together in groups so the entire group reproduces every two years or less. This is about teamwork, not solo performance.
