Stone Ridge Community Church’s mission is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
We operate as a non-denominational contemporary church; however, we are affiliated with the Baptist General Conference, otherwise known as Converge Worldwide. We are a church that averages around 250 people in Sunday morning worship. We are located in the northeast corner of Iowa. The city of Decorah has about 8,000 people with an additional 2,000 students who attend Luther College. The town is primarily Lutheran and Catholic. We believe it’s a great place to do ministry because the harvest is plentiful and the workers are few. It’s truly a mission field and is so rewarding to see people who have gone to church perhaps their whole life, but never understood what it meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Every week God blesses our church with visitors who are looking and searching for something more out of life. They come from churches where the gospel was not preached and they attended out of guilt or obligation. The “Good News” truly is good news to them and it refreshes their spirits and souls like never before.
We are primarily a young church with a lot of young families. We have visitors every week in our service and so we are looking for someone who can help them get connected. Specifically, someone who can reach out to them and get them plugged into a group. This will require someone who can paint a vision of what small group is like and the benefits of it. We are looking for someone who can cover all facets of the small group ministry from sign up to training to hosting to coaching. We would very much like to create a culture like the one described in “Creating a Lead Small Culture” by Reggie Joiner. I realize this book was written for the children and youth areas; however, I would like to see the principles in this book carried throughout the church as a whole.
If possible we would also like this person to incorporate or teach our small groups how to be missional. We are looking for someone who can schedule, plan, create, develop, and lead us in the area of missions locally and beyond. We realize this may be asking a lot and will take some time. Because of this, we are looking for someone who is organized and has a plan they are working on to achieve this desired result or win as Andy Stanley would say. We are not looking for someone who is a counselor. In a nutshell, we are looking for someone who is highly relational, has the ability to cast vision for a ministry, and can recruit and build a team.
We currently have the following groups: A women’s group on Monday night that my wife leads with 25 to 35 women. A men’s group on Tuesday night that I lead with 15 to 20 men. Five young couples groups that meet every other week and I currently am leading one of those. One middle aged couples group meets on Thursday nights and a middle aged women’s group that meets on Tuesday mornings.
Minimum four year degree from a Bible College.
“Man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart.” You should have a hunger and desire to become more like Jesus. This means putting Jesus first, then your spouse, family, and lastly ministry.
You should demonstrate Christian character and servant leadership as stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4.
We are looking for someone who fulfills Bill Hybels 3 C’s of character, competence, and chemistry.
We are looking for someone who has a spirit of humility, a willingness to serve, and a desire to follow.
