When I was about 10 years old we traded in our old console Television for a brand new Magnavox HUGE 27 inch remote controlled TV.

And my mom simply would not stand for that box sitting bare on top of a table, like we were savages. Televisions were meant to be contained and an entertainment center was the state of the art furniture show piece for this new device. With that purchase I was thrust in to a right of passage for a child of the 80s and 90s, overcoming the “Some Assembly Required” label. That experience in fact taught me the joy and frustration which the ready to assemble furniture.
After that I became our family’s go to for book cases, microwave stands, shelving units, and really anything that required more than delivery to setup. One thing I learned…not all ready to assemble furniture is created the same. Some goes together with the precision of German automotive engineering while some can barely be constructed as prescribed. Some furniture had such complicated instructions one needed an engineering degree to decipher while some was so vague that one could hardly follow.
I’m probably going to take some flack for this one, I mean poke hard enough at any analogy and you’ll not only make holes but find those that are already there, however bear with me.
